Cookie notice

This notice lists the cookies and similar browser storage used on actionref.com, what each one is for, and how to change your mind. It sits alongside our privacy notice, which covers personal information more broadly.
1. What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file that a site asks your browser to keep, so that something can be remembered between page views — a preference, for example. Similar results can be achieved with local storage, session storage and IndexedDB, which are areas of your browser that a site may write to. In this notice, "cookies" covers all of these.
Cookies set by this site are called first-party. Cookies set by another service whose code runs on the page — an advertising network, for instance — are called third-party.

Necessary entries are always written, because without them the site cannot remember your banner choice. Analytics and advertising entries are only written after you accept them.
3. OneSignal and browser notifications
Our notifications are delivered by OneSignal. The OneSignal script loads with the page and writes technical identifiers to your browser storage as part of registering it with the push service. No notification is ever sent until you allow notifications in the browser prompt, which appears only after you submit the desk list form. If you never allow them, the identifiers stay unused and are removed when you clear site data for actionref.com.
4. The consent banner
On your first visit a banner appears at the foot of the page with two buttons: Accept and Decline. Accept allows the analytics and advertising categories. Decline leaves only the necessary category in place. Either way, your answer is stored in your browser so that the banner does not return on every page, and the site remains fully readable.
5. Changing or cancelling your choice
- Clear site data for actionref.com in your browser settings; the banner will appear again on the next visit and you can answer differently.
- Block or delete cookies for this site in your browser's privacy settings. Most browsers also offer a setting that blocks third-party cookies everywhere.
- Turn off notifications for this site in the site permissions panel of your browser, or use the unsubscribe link in any list email.
Blocking necessary cookies is possible, but the banner will then reappear on every page because your answer cannot be remembered.
6. How to manage cookies in common browsers
The controls sit in the privacy or site settings area of each browser: Chrome under Privacy and security, Firefox under Privacy & Security, Safari under Privacy on the desktop and under Settings for Safari on iOS, and Edge under Cookies and site permissions. Each browser also lets you clear stored data for a single site, which is the quickest way to reset your choices here.
7. Updates and contact
If we add or remove a service that writes to your browser, this notice is updated and the date at the top changes. Questions about anything listed here go to office@actionref.com.
